You can also measure aggressive driving habits like speeding and harsh braking to get a driver score to compare with others. This would be perfect for schools looking to promote a safer student population by embracing technology that results in more aware and educated new drivers.

We are now starting to work with high schools as a pilot project to introduce the concept to parents. Our studies have shown teens are receptive to the concept as it sets the parents at ease about loaning out the family car.

System features live tracking in case of emergencies, shows cheapest gas near by and reads engine diagnostic codes too. The features and benefits are too numerous to list here but we can send our info sheet.


New HOS/ELD Solution is Compliant with New US Regulations…

If you are running vehicles into the US then you are aware or should be aware, of the new DOT regulations released on December 16th 2015. In short you have 2 years to install a certified Hours of Service (HOS) or ELD (Electronic Logging Device). Resolve Billing Disputes with GPS

Service companies have to know which jobs their drivers and technicians have completed and how much to charge for the labor on each invoice. However, their customers don’t always agree with the numbers printed on the invoice, so they have to be ready to back them up with data. GPS tracking provides helpful information businesses can use to resolve billing disputes while maintaining a good relationship with the customer.

Billing disputes can hurt the relationship between business and customer. Resolving these disputes is challenging. The business shouldn’t give up revenue it rightfully earned or lose money on jobs it has performed. But businesses cannot expect customers just to pay whatever they are quoted. The saying in the service industry is, “The customer is always right.” But anyone who has been in the service business–especially as it relates to billing customers–knows the customer is not always right. A service business can afford to lose money on some jobs if it helps keep a customer happy and paves the way for more business in the future. However, it isn’t possible to make a habit of losing money to customers who continually refuse to pay for all the work performed.

Most billing disputes come about through simple misunderstandings that a phone call or email could resolve. Right or wrong, the customer must be assured the business is listening to and addressing his concerns. Even if the customer is wrong and being unreasonable, it is important to listen and be respectful. Commit early to resolving the dispute using the available facts and the simplest solution.

GPS tracking is helpful because it automates the collection of the documentation necessary for resolving billing disputes. Manually filling out documentation–like travel logs, invoices, work order receipts, and other paperwork–can be a tedious task. Keeping it all organized is a full-time job in itself. GPS tracking makes it easy to find out what vehicles were where and for how long. This can confirm many things that might come up in a billing dispute.

For example, the customer might say that no one showed up to do the work and the tech says no one was home to let them in. GPS tracking can settle the dispute with facts. It can confirm when and where the tech arrived and how long he waited until leaving. Another example could be a case where the customer complains he got a bill for two hours of labor, but that the tech was only on site for one. The GPS history could show that the tech arrived at 10:15 and left at 11:10, showing that the customer was in fact overcharged.

GPS will not always prove that the business is right and the customer is wrong. Many times it will vindicate the customer’s complaint. When a billing dispute arises, proper documentation is useful. But like in the example of the customer who was over-billed, manual documentation can be flawed. The unbiased data in the GPS tracking system is much better suited to settling the dispute than a paper trail filled out by hand.

When the GPS data resolves a billing dispute in the business’s favor, it should avoid making the customer feel stupid about questioning the bill. Instead, let them know you appreciate the concern and are glad that the situation is resolved to mutual satisfaction. Using GPS data tactfully to settle a billing dispute is a good way for a service company to ensure it is paid for the work it performs while keeping its customers happy. Whether it leads to the customer being right or the business being right, the dispute can be solved in a way that maintains the relationship.


How To Protect Businesses and Drivers Against False Claims

Drivers of service vehicles–especially those with familiar branding, whether that be a local or national brand–are susceptible to insurance fraud and having false claims leveled against them. GPS tracking can help your clients protect themselves from false claims and insurance fraud. By recording a wide variety of information about a vehicle’s speed, location, start and stop time, ignition status, and other vehicle data, GPS tracking can protect your client’s drivers and business against false claims.

It is difficult to know for sure how common an occurrence this is since many claims are settled out of court, and sometimes there is not clear evidence in the case. It may be rare for drivers in accidents to accuse fleet drivers falsely of causing accidents, but when it does happen, the business has to be prepared to either defend itself with hard evidence or be held liable for damages. However, rare (or common) false claims against fleet vehicle drivers may be, it does represent a substantial risk to a business.

There are many kinds of false claims that could be made against fleet drivers. Some of these false claims could include:

  • A customer calling to complain that a delivery was late. Maybe they thought it was late. Maybe they were trying to get a rebate or service credit. GPS logs can show the exact time a driver arrived at and left the delivery point.
  • A person accusing a fleet driver of a hit and run: GPS can verify exactly where a vehicle was at the time of the accident, potentially proving that it could not have been involved.
  • A customer accusing a technician of over-charging for labor: The tech says he spent two hours working on a job. The customer says he was only there for one. Who’s right? Rather than having to believe one and not the other, the unbiased data can give an objective answer.

On the other side of this, the data collected from a GPS tracking system can also validate a customer’s complaints against a driver. If for example, a driver is accused of speeding in a construction or school zone, the fleet manager can confirm this and take corrective action with that employee. Rather than allowing drivers and businesses to bear the blame of accidents they had nothing to do with or letting drivers get away with bad behavior, GPS vehicle tracking can set the record straight. For both sides, this technology greatly mitigates the risk.

One of the biggest ways this technology can protect businesses with fleets is by keeping an accurate historical record of where the vehicles are, and when. This allows businesses to repeat history and play back events as they unfold. Rather than relying on a driver’s memory and version of events, there exists concrete data to back up decisions. This kind of data is incredibly valuable to businesses with fleets of vehicles. Operating a fleet is an expensive endeavor with many associated risks. Implementing a GPS tracking solution can reduce many of those risks

GPS vehicle tracking also reduces the risk for fleets by providing precise data about the speed, location, and routes of all of a business’s vehicles at any given time. Being able to pinpoint an exact location of a vehicle for a given time and date can often provide the necessary proof to refute false claims against a driver. And by providing data on starts, stops, ignition status, and speed, it becomes very difficult to make a convincing claim against a driver unless reality backs it up.
